Biblical Word Studies Article - Salvation

Jesus Christ made 7 statements while on the cross according to the Gospels. This is an examination of the last words spoken by our Lord during His Incarnation, just before He died. Commonly translated, “it is finished,” is a connotative rendering into the English. Yet, denotatively, in the Greek it is more thoroughly translated, “paid in full.” While it is completely true that Jesus had finished His mission; many have mistakenly only taken this expression to mean that He had finished His life, or finished His mission, or finished his teachings, or even finished His last words. And while all of these are definitely true, it misses the fact that He not only finished His mission, but that His mission was to pay for the sins of the world, and that in doing so He went beyond completing it fully, to the fact that nothing was left undone, whatsoever. Meaning, we cannot add to our salvation one bit. The fact is that Jesus “paid for our salvation,” but that He “paid in full” the price of our sins which mandates that there is nothing, not one thing that we can do to contribute to our salvation, that Jesus did not 100% completely conclude in His death on the cross. Eternal security is not a doctrinal issue, it is a Biblical fact!

Salvation ~ Ephesians 2:8 ~ Eternal Security
by B. L. Bolin Salvation
This essay is a thorough examination of the Greek grammar used in Ephesians 2:8, concerning the phrase: "have been saved," and will help establish the fact of the security of the child of God in their salvation. Eternal security has to do with the character of God and His ability to maintain His word concerning the surety of the believer. It is God and God alone, who holds on to us even when we don't hold onto Him. To teach otherwise is to impugn the character and nature of God and in the process to lay siege on the faith of many believers wrestling with this issue in their lives.

The Heart and the Mind
by B. L. Bolin Clutural Insights
In both the OT and NT, the word “Heart,” in the Hebrew and the Greek languages is never solely concerning the emotions. Biblically speaking, the word "heart" always entails the total internal part of man. First and primarily, the mind; next the emotions; and last the "seat of the will."
